NAU MAI, HAERE MAI
Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand
Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city and the proposed host of The International Radiation Protection Association Congress, 2028.
Auckland is known in Māori, New Zealand’s indigenous culture, as Tāmaki Makaurau, “a place desired by many”, and it’s easy to see why.
The Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS) hopes to welcome you all to experience a region that offers the perfect mix of city sophistication and a stunning natural playground.
Māori culture remains an important part of everything Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland has to offer. Throughout the congress IRPA delegates will experience ‘manaakitanga’ (warm hospitality), and every interaction with it will be a truly genuine experience.
If successful, ARPS will plan a congress theme around the 120th anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to New Zealand born Ernest Rutherford for his works in the chemistry of radioactive substances.
We invite you to spend some time here learning more about Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
